Here in the Sandwich Islands. If it develops it'll be in about four hours.

Good luck, hope it's a false alarm!!
Pardon my ignorance, but where are the Sandwich Islands?? I interrogated Wikipedia but it said they're what the Hawaiian Islands used to be called. If the tsunami is the result of the quake off New Zealnd, it can't be them. |

Be safe!
Would it be due to the 7.9 quake off Samoa? |

Some places have been given a Tsunami Warning (highest level of warning of risk) others a Tsunami Watch (second highest).
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stori...008206/1/.html The Sandwich Islands are indeed the Hawaiian Islands. |

Yup!
When James Cook "discovered” them about two hundred years ago, he named them after the Earl of Sandwich. Later they were renamed to “Hawaii”, or “The Hawaiian Islands” in keeping of what the seafaring Polynesians name the largest island in chain around a thousand years earlier. I like to use the good Captains name for them as a conversation starter. Works, huh? |

You be careful there, OK?
I'm phobic about tsunamis the way Zelda is about spiders. Terrified. I think drowning, especially in the ocean, would be the worst way to die, even worse than burning. Keep us posted. |

It was downgraded to a "Tsunami Advisory" about fifteen minutes ago. Whew! Thanks for all your concerns.
Since I've lived in Hawaii (25 years), there has been one small tsunami (about six inches), and a warning every few years. There are still people living here who remember devastating tsunamis, and we take them very seriously. |

Yo wodin stay dry. I lived in Oahu for seven years and weathered a hurricane or two but no Tsunamis. Glad to hear it was downgraded.
