If I compare to, let's say, my MacBook Air with similar specs, I don't think Surface Pro has been overpriced.
It may be above the price point of major target groups, but that's another point. If I check the market (1 year ago, when Surface Pro did appear for the first time), an i5 processor couldn't be found for a lower price. |

Well, they've sold at least 11,000.

I will.
I'm a bit reluctant, as my Surface Pro G1 only is about 6 months old. But it quickly became my favorite, so its successor is a "must have" for me. I barely touch my iPad mini or Nexus 7 anymore (although I replaced my Nexus 7 2012 unit with the 2013 successor). Next to my Surface Pro, I mainly use Dell Latitude 10 now - another Windows 8 tablet. Surface for the "heavy stuff", Latitude 10 for my mobile demands. Why? Compared to Windows 8 tablets, the rest is only gimmicks and gadgets. iPad mini is a phantastic toy. But that's what it is: A toy. Whereas my Windows 8 tablets are in a similar class as my MacBook Air: real "working machines". I don't have a real reason, to replace my Surface Pro G1. I never had any complaints about battery or performance. But, collector that I am, I won't be able to resist long. I'll wait for the 256GB or 512GB units, though = mid to end of December in Germany. |

My Surface Pro is my primary PC now; I find that I'm hardly using my "main" laptop any more. I think it's a superb machine.

I'm pretty sure, Surface Pro G1 will drop in price drastically. From Microsoft, but mainly from end users, selling their G1s (only about 6 months old now) to replace them by G2s. G1s still are perfectly fine and totally up for the task. I'm pretty sure, you'll get the 128GB version of Surface Pro G1 for ca. € 500 in 2 months. I'm thoroughly enjoying my RT...especially running 8.1 which is a very, very nice improvement. So far the greatest downside is the poor support for capacitive stylus/finger drawing. |

I like my Surface RT. But being able to install all my legacy stuff is an enormous advantage of Surface Pro. And if you've got a Surface Pro, there's no real argument for an additional Surface RT. Still: Looking at the low price of Surface RT, I'm tempted to buy one in addition. No real need in addition to Surface Pro, but on the other hand it (RT) easily can compete with other tablets I might be tempted to buy... |
