There appears to be two problems here.
1. The later versions of the firmware (v5.0+) now use the armel versions.
2. You appear not to be using apt-get to do your installs. If you just download individual .deb files and use GDebi to install quite often it will fail because of dependency problems and if you try to correct that yourself you run the risk of dependency hell! (google it for more info).

The best tip is to use google a lot to find out how to do the basics in Linux, just enter "linux apt-get" and you will get tons of free useful advice.

I am also having the same issue as above (and I am a total ubuntu noob as well). I have a SmartQ V7 firmware 5.5. Biggest reason I want comix over any other comic reader is it's magnify feature for magnifying text boxes/bubbles - no other reader I know of has this, and I don't like to zoom the entire screen just to read the text (I loved it on the N810, and got the SmartQ V7 for it's larger screen).

Please help! I really want this to work, and I have spent hours on this

UPDATE: Ok I finally got it to work.

Here's what I did:

Open evilvte, enter sudo apt-get update

After that, I used GDebi Package installer to install comix from the 1st page of this thread. Then to update to the latest comix, I did this:

Open evilvte, enter sudo apt-get install comix

Now I have comix working!

Is there any way to have comix auto rotate pages 90 degrees clockwise for every page instead of me having to auto rotate each page manually? And how do you get the magnify tool to work without it advancing to the next page?
