Sideloaded books and syncing
Looking to buy a Nook Touch. Can anyone tell me if sideloaded (i.e. non-B&N) purchased epub books (without DRM) will sync between the Nook app on an ipad, the Nook Touch, and the Windows PC version of the Nook Reader?
Many thnks, Richard. |

Syncing is only for B&N books (as the information is stored on B&N's servers). I believe the same is true for Kindle (only for Amazon's books).

I have a ton of side-loaded books on my Nook Touch, and its not a huge deal. What I personally hope for is that we can sync our side-loaded materials (books, music, notes, web shares) with the cloud storage offered to the Tablet users. Just a small thought. |

This may also be a bug - what is happening is my nook is telling me that I've read to a different page number on another device, and it offers to go to that page. However it believes I am always on page 1 on my Nook STR, which is where I'm doing most of my reading.
I've been traveling, and will try to do a more controlled study now that I have both devices with me. Bob |

I had that happen with a sideloaded book as well. But when I'd go to the home screen it said I was on page "1 of 1." This is a book with 700 pages. When I'd reopen it, I'd get that "sync to furthest location?" dialogue that would take me from page 1 to wherever I'd been reading it before.
But I did an epub-to-epub conversion in Calibre and it fixed that. |

I was wrong about the syncing...
What you just described is the phenomena I am observing. Thanks a bunch for the tip - it never would have occurred to me!
So no syncing of sideloaded books still... Bob |
