Pocketbook ist euer Hersteller des Jahres! Der erstmals auf der Internationalen Funkausstellung öffentlich in Erscheinung getretene ukrainische eReader-Spezialist konnte bei unserer Leserwahl fast ein Drittel der Stimmen auf sich vereinen, verwies die “Blue-Chips” Amazon und Sony auf die Plätze. Eine dicke Überraschung – allerdings nur auf den ersten Blick.

275 Leser beteiligten sich an unserer Sonntagsfrage – Rekord. Eine kombinierte IP- und Cookie-Sperre verhinderte doppelte Teilnahmen, zusätzlich wurden die Logs händisch in Augenschein genommen.

Für 86 Teilnehmer beziehungsweise 31% war Pocketbook der Hersteller des Jahres. 71 Teilnehmer (26%) votierten für den hiesigen Marktführer Sony, auf Kindle-Bauer Amazon entfielen 50 Stimmen (18%). Dahinter folgen mit deutlichem Abstand iRex, Apple (je 5%) und erst auf dem 6. Platz das Berliner Startup txtr (4%).

Pocketbook versteht sich als Communityprojekt: Die Entwicklung von Hardware wie Benutzeroberfläche der Lesegeräte erfolgte in enger Abstimmung mit über 100 Nutzern des russischen eBook-Forums the-ebook.org, die Firmware ist Open Source und wird ständig erweitert. Die eBook Reader der Ukrainer sind erst seit vier Wochen in Deutschland erhältlich.

Dem deutschen Pocketbook-Vertrieb gelang es, den “Spirit” auch in den deutschsprachigen Raum zu übertragen. In unserem Forum wie bei den Kollegen von Mobileread hat sich bereits eine aktive Nutzercommunity versammelt, auftretende Fragen werden auch zeitnah von deutschen Pocketbook-Mitarbeitern beantwortet. Repräsentanten von anderen Herstellern lassen sich dagegen kaum auf “externen” Diskussionsplattformen blicken.

Entsprechend verwundert es nicht, dass Pocketbook bei unserer Wahl die größte Teilnehmerzahl mobilisieren konnte. Das Ergebnis spiegelt natürlich in keinster Weise die Marktverhältnisse wider, wohl aber Kundenzufriedenheit und aktive Nutzerschaft. IT-Profis profitieren in diesem Zusammenhang von spannenden Tweaks, Neulinge können bei Fragen oder Problemen mit schneller und kompetenter Hilfestellung rechnen – nicht unwichtige Kriterien bei der Kaufentscheidung.

Of course you do. You own one and you joined the site, and many of your posts are about justifying your purchase decision.

Don't worry, it's a common habit. It's one of the big reasons there's a community in the first place. Of course, the Kindle DX wasn't mentioned in the post, nor in the link they posted, and has nothing to do with a small poll that chose PockeBook as a favorite ebook device producer/company (not their product in particular though)....
