PRS-600 firmware update for prs-600

My sister recently gave me her sony prs-600 and I noticed she still has the older version of the system. I went into Sony's site to download the firmware update and once I tried updating it, it's not working. The pop-up box will show "this prs-600 is up to date" however above that, it shows the current software verision #'s as the old ones. I then went into the ereader and looked at "about", it was still showing the older version. Please help!!

What firmware do you have and what number are you trying to load?
The latest PRS-600 firmware is dated way back in 2009.

Edit: If the reader stopped working, try a hardreset.

actually i might have the updated one. my brother, the whiz kid, said i have the newer one because the numbers are higher than the one sony has back in 2009. i just don't understand how come on sony's site, they didnt update the new version than??

anyhow, my verision on the device is 1.0.01.10230
sony's latest update is 1.0.01.08040

so....is mine the latest one?
another thing is....my device can't read my pro duo card but it reads the SD card. why is that? no big deal because i can still use the SD card but i have an extra pro duo card that i dont use anymore from my old sony digital camera.

There are different locale versions of 600 (they have different firmware numbers but are essentially the same). I haven't heard of any update with new features.
