Steve Jordan Books $1.50 each for "E-Book Week"
Have you been meaning to grab a copy of one of Steve Jordan's e-books? Now's a great time to do it. All his books are on sale from March 2-8, 2008 for $1.50 at SteveJordanBooks. They are available in a number of DRM-free formats, and are a good read. He is known mostly for his thoughtful science fiction, and is also appreciated for his stance against DRM. He is an active member of the MobileRead forums, as well, so I hope you will consider supporting him by trying one of his titles.
And if you are already a Steve Jordan fan, be sure to check the bundle deals also. |

I picked up the $10.00 bundle. I have not read any of Mr. jordan's books yet but I wanted to show my support for any author offering drm free books.

Hats off to Steve Jordan!
Great choice of formats, btw. And for those who hesitate, his website offers large extracts and two free downloadable short stories. |

Ten books for ten bucks? Count me in.
Converted to German paperback prices, I figure I'll "break even" when I like just one of those ten, and the chances for that seem better than fair, from the descriptions. |

It's so good to hear from so many True Believers. And hopefully, you'll all like the books, too!

Steve, you might want to check the RTF version of Worldfarm in the 10 for 10 bundle: The TOC is in Portuguese, and I had to Search-and-Replace a couple of things to get a readable book out of this under Word 2002:
1. Paragraph Endings (^p) -> ^p***^p (i.e. scene changes were only marked as paragraph endings (and they were the only paragraph endings, so therefore: 2. Tab stops (^t) -> ^p^t (i.e. paragraphs were only marked as tab stops). |

In fact, the chapter titles are intentionally in Portuguese... I did that just because the book takes place in Brazil. As to the other artifacts, I'll look into those. |

Steve, as I already wrote I have the 10-pack in mobi format. I used them as testcase for tompe's mobi2html program. The result was garbage. One problem was in the mobi2html program, it was corrected. But there are also a few 'nul' characters in the files, they shouldn't be there according to Tompe. He suspected file corruption of some kind. But I wonder if that is correct, it was in all the books. And never in a place that was a problem for reading it on my Cybook. I have the feeling that there is a slight problem somewere in the creation process.
It only shows up when you try to 'explode' them. Of course that is not a problem for normal customers. But it can be the sign of something deeper tha can give problems later. |
