problem with connect

I am having a problem with connect. I got my ebook a couple of weeks ago on a trip to the US leaving from Canada. I connected with no problem to the ebook store (I have a us amex card with a us address so no problems there) and have happily been buying books.
Today I found that I was unable to connect to the connect store. I tried going through a proxy and was able to connect but not log in for some reason. This leads me to believe that they have blocked my based on my ip address from Canada.
Does anyone else have this problem?

I don't think Connect works through a proxy. I can't connect to it at work, where we have a proxy server.

I found this on another forum regarding the use of proxys:
I tried additionally hardcoding the proxy server setting in IE, and that fixed Connect.
Does anyone know how to hardcode the proxy setting in IE or what this means?

The Connect software using IE to do it's HTML to the ebook store.

1. Run IE
2. Tools | Internet Options
3. Connections Tab
4. LAN Settings
5. Setup your Proxy

That's all you need do.
