Question markdown & blockquote: conversion fails

Converting the following txt file with calibre 0.8.64 to lit

Code:
Paragraph 1.

>Blockquote line 1.

>Blockquote line 2.

Paragraph 2.
results in

Code:
<p>Paragraph 1.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>Blockquote line 1.
Blockquote line 2.
Paragraph 2.</p>
</blockquote>
The closing </blockquote> appears after the second paragraph instead of before. I tried the serveral paragraph style options and double empty lines but no avail. Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

I just tried your sample txt file in a txt-to-epub conversion. This is what the resulting epub's html file looked like, which looks correct to me:
Code:
<p class="calibre1">Paragraph 1.</p>
<blockquote class="calibre2">
<p class="calibre1">Blockquote line 1.</p>
<p class="calibre1">Blockquote line 2.</p>
</blockquote>
<p class="calibre1">Paragraph 2.</p>
I used the following setting :
Convert - TXT Input - Formatting style - markdown

There isn't really enough in the sample txt file to advise on the best setting for Paragraph style on the same page, but auto, block or single all worked for me.

BTW welcome to MobileRead

Thanks for the help.

While now knowing that it could work I tried again. And it works: I had to remove the 'txt input' option 'Remove indents at the beginning of lines.' (not that obvious to me).
