File Naming Convention

Any tricks to name files or creat directories that will make it easier finding particular books. Right now I have over 100 books installed but it is a mess trying to find a particular one in the mess.

  • Get calibre.
  • Import your books
  • assign tags, fix authors
  • export books back to your reader
  • enjoy collections

It's THE best way to organize your books.

there is a column "tags" in your list of books in calibre. Just click a tags-field in a book of your choice, then assign a name for the library, you want the book to be shown in on your reader (e.g. "fiction", "mystery & crime", etc.) when re-exporting the books to your reader, you can choose "collections", so the different collections you created in calibre with the tags are shown. When selecting a collection, all the books of this collection are listed.
You can correct the author names in the same way.

Just to add to what Vishcompany said, Calibre's normal way of transferring books to the reader puts them in author folders, which already makes it much easier to find books. And any tag you assign as Vishcompany said gets put into a collection with the name of the tag you choose (or tags, a book can be in multiple collections and Calibre will port it to the reader in those multiple collections).
