Writeroom on macbook pro, Darkroom in Windows or Pyroom in Linux on the netbook. No distractions, and full use of screen real estate which I find is more of a problem than the keyboard (I have an Asus 1001HA 10.1")

Had a bit of buyers remorse and returned it. I need to do some "smart" things in my life, and not spend money on things like this. Due to a divorce last year I'm filing bankruptcy and am still paying off lawyer. If I return this, I can pay him fully.
So time to put on my big boy pants and do what's right with Xmas money rather than what I want. |

Good for you. There will always be another chance. (And don't rule out refurbs at places like Newegg.)

I have done good work with those 69cent spiral notebooks they sell along with school supplies. The hard work isn't digitizing a work, it is in laying out the foundations, the characters, the organization. Good luck. |

That was my thought. I was looking for an easy way to just write, portable style....and well, you can't really get more portable than pen and paper can you? |

On my last hospital visit they included a small notepad and pen in a little welcome package . It was really a very good idea I thought - or it was once I felt well enough to use them. It's amazing what story ideas come to you while lying awake in a hospital bed.

writers often get too focused on the tech aspects of writing (the computers, the writing organizer programs, the word processors....). I actually prefer doing my initial writing on paper and it also give you a creative editing step when inputting to computer. Last edited by kennyc; 12-26-2012 at 06:08 AM. |

I tried writing on a netbook and the keys are too close together (and I have small hands) for me to touch type. I do better on my tablet with keyboard where I type at just under the speed I do on a PC.

My Asus 1001HA died. That is, it stalls on USB initialisation, a common problem, apparently, and Asus has moved on to bigger and better things and isnt interested in helping out supportwise... I'm assuming a logic board/motherboard issue. What a shame to have to chuck it away. I wont buy another netbook, I'll make do with a 13" mac laptop and my iPad.
