Does it take less power for a partial refresh?
I am wondering if any one here knows if a partial refresh of an eink screen takes less power than a complete refresh?
Thank you! |

Do you mean a partial refresh of the entire screen? Or a refresh of a partial part of the screen? I don't know the answer in either case but it is an interesting question? I would assume that doing less would mean less of a power drain.

On my Onyx Boox there is a setting that enables you to do a full screen refresh always, i.e. with every page turn, or only once with every 3, 5, 7 or 9 page turns. I used to use the once per 9 pages setting, and some time ago changed to 'always' (to avoid any ghosting, although it was not that bad). I did not notice any deterioration of battery life.
