Of course, you still need a separate USB OTG adapter. Hmm, would be nice if manufacturers release a USB thumb drive around the size of a Cruzer Fit but uses microUSB male with the pins already crossed.

SD cards are not only needed for movies.

Many of the best android games are getting close to the size of a movie and if you play a lot of those it will behoove you to load them onto SD cards.

People with sensative data also use external cards for that.

For me, the lack of an SD card isn't a deal breaker. I'll be looking closely at this later this year after Amazon and Apple release their models.

I have an original version Samsung Galaxy Tab (7") that I haven't turned on since I got my SG Note.

The only reason I'd want a Nexus 7 (or any other tablet) is to get a look at Jelly Bean, and I'm sure not willing to pay $200 to do that!

Unfortunately mounting USB storage natively is not supported on the Nexus 7. Hopefully rooted users will be able to use StickMount with the Nexus 7 and make this work.

Well, that pretty much kills it. I won't rule it out completely, but as it stands now, I'll pass on the Nexus 7. I'm getting tired of rooting devices.

They could also give us that capability natively with the first update <shrug>. I bought an 8 GB device and 99.9% of the time that will be sufficient for my needs. What can I say, i'm neither a gamer or a huge fan of movies on this size screen.

Don't need the space for games or movies but comics take up a lot of space and that's what I'm buying the Nexus 7 for.

I'm not in the market for a tablet at the moment, but this would be a deal breaker if I was. My reasoning is a bit different though, since I don't stuff tonnes of data onto my tablet.

Reason 1: sometimes I swap cards between devices. If my phone has something that my tablet doesn't, it's far easier to swap cards than it is to hook things up to a computer or setup a WiFi connection.

Reason 2: I often break things down according to function. My reference library is on one card, teaching library on another card, and recreational reading is on a third card. I find that this helps me to maintain focus while reading.

Reason 3: it allows the tablet to be used as a card reader. I've bought card readers before, and they always seem to break. Not sure why. It has happened to cheap readers and expensive readers. Most of the time it seems to be a problem with the electronics. Never had a problem with the readers built into my phones, tablets, and cameras though.

Reason 4: I tend to use devices for unintended purposes. Removable media makes this easier, especially if the system software is on removable media (thank-you Kobo!)

You could use Blue Tooth to transfer files.
