The crime was supposedly solved and all the bodies accounted for, but when they untangled their limbs, they found only 7 legs.

He placed the cucumber carefully on the ground, and slowly raised his arms, at which point the cop sneezed not once, but twice, as a carefully aimed tomato hit his forehead and started burrowing into his skull; from this point onwards, the future of mankind was doomed.

As the policemen hustled the bloody Thorne onto the gurney, and struggled to work through the crowds and get him to a waiting ambulance, Thorne held his unbroken arm aloft, gripping the ancient volume from Sol's library, and said as loudly as he could muster, "You gotta tell 'em, cap... the oil's gone, there's no more plastic, there's no more e-ink... nothing left but wood... Soylent White is trees!.. ya gotta tell... tell them all...

With Latin America and a long flight safely far behind then, with the driving through snow-capped Scottish mountains ending, Harv pulled off the B884 as it entered Colbost and onto the gravel in front of the House Over-By, where the minister waited for them, and Vera leant over, kissed his cheek, and said, "this is a perfect location for a honeymoon."

She was so fat as she walked out of my office that, three minutes later, a part of her still remained.

He scampered across the deck with the alacrity that one associates with the young, and then he was stepped upon.

I'm not sure why he did it, but the results were as expected.

He had one final chance with the roll of the dice; unfortunately the toss came up with two sixes and he knew exactly what that meant.

As Hugo and Lefty drifted gently downwards from the wreckage of the Montgolfier Brothers balloon, Lefty, looking down at noisy and rapidly disappearing dot, turned to Hugo and asked, "What's a parachute and why did that nasty man want one?"

As the large jet spiraled down toward the Pacific Ocean and the screams reverberated throughout the cabin, with bodies and luggage tumbling against each other like out-of-control puppets, Jimmy's one thought as he absently scratched an inflamed pimple on his chin was to wonder if he would be able to finish this last paragraph from the newest Neal Stephenson novel.

It was with tears in her eyes that she gently nursed the broken hand, whilst he slowly approached with a pair of tweezers in one of his own hands, an hyperdermic in the other and a scalpel already close by; she sniffled, saying "sorry, I don't normally have this problem", but she remained firm and steady, holding the hand still with a delicacy often seen in hospital theatres around the land; he took the other hand as he brought the hyperdermic close into the joint and gently squeezed the plunger in; then quickly he placed the empty hypo into a tray as he reached out and picked up the scalpel; "Oh!" she gasped, again sighing, "don't mind me, please carry on"; "Really Mavis, I wish you wouldn't catch these colds so often, especially when I'm trying to mend these watches, you know how delicately we have to deal with these, 'cause with one small mistake we could wipe out time altogether"; but with a shudder she convulsed into a spate of coughing and spluttering, so much so that the Clock of Time fell off the pedestal to the ground, where it smashed into pieces; all across the land and throughout the Universe the lights began to go out.......

When he finally raised his hand and intoned, "I, Barack Hussein Obama," my eyes finally clouded over with tears, and I effectively saw nothing else that day.

Once her bike had finally disappeared around the corner, I turned and strolled casually back to the waiting quiet of my office, steering around the kids that beat mercilessly at the dead fire hydrant, the rhythm of my neighborhood, making themselves (and the rest of us) feel hotter than anyone in Harlem should have to feel, too stupid to get out of the sun.

When you're nailed hands and feet on a wooden cross, in front of the beautiful Jerusalem sunset, and your very last question is "where's my Hasselblad", then you can call yourself a photographer...
