Can't add or edit annotations, notes in Kindle PPW
I have a relatively new Kindle PPW running the latest firmware.

I've noticed that under the Menu there's an option for notes and annotations. However, when I open it there is no option to add new notes or to edit existing ones (none there to edit at the moment).

How is this feature supposed to work?

You make notes/annotations while in a book. Once you have made one or more, that option should be available for you to view the already made annotations.

Amazon will only back up these items if the Kindle is registered to an Amazon account.

I notice that there appears to be no similar features on the Kindle app for iPad...

Untrue. Just start highlighting text in a book on the app, then tap the highlight, and you'll see a popup that you can use to highlight with a color, add notes, share on Twitter/Facebook, etc.

By all means, sometimes you can't figure things out, and asking is the right way.
But, truly, have you considered opening the manual for the PW or consulting help files?

OK, thanks.

Prior to reading this, tapping a word would merely display the word's meaning (I had to download the dictionary just now as the app's been updated and I lost all settings).

Not sure why I wasn't getting the notes and color annotations menu up previously.

Anyway, all's good. And thanks again for the tips.
