Pdf and proper metadata after file is uploaded to device

I was wondering if its possible to add support for metadata in pdf's. Conversions for pdf's really is hard and its a per basis trial, seems devices can now handle most pdf's, simple ones anyway. The way it is right now, its very hard to use them as any meta information changed in calibre does not fallow in the device. I m wondering if there any chance to add some support for this. I m sure there is a bunch of people who would love to keep their pdf s format as long as meta information is editable within calibre. (device tried prs-505 others probably have the same issue)

Edit: Also is there any way to sort by format? Would be really nice for conversions.
