Strange arrangements of stones appear at the edge of a young man's property. He and a friend attempt to decipher their meaning before it is too late...

Arthur Machen was born in Caerleon, whose Roman amphitheatre may have inspired the location at the end of the story. At the time of his youth it had not yet been excavated, and the curving shape must have looked very mysterious.

I have friends in the village and people still find fragments of Roman and Celtic pottery (and other artefacts) when digging their gardens.
