EE emulator.

I tired to constantly copy compiled programs from PC to EE, test them and go back to PC to fix them. So...

Probably I find the way to run EE firmware in google's Android emulator on your PC.

Does anyone interesting in this?

I've installed the SDK and platform 1.6, API4, revision 3. I tried out a simple HelloWorld and when I ran it there was only the small screen. I don't see how to fix that, any suggestions?

10tklz, there's no easy way to do so. You need to do img dump of entire EE system, then replace android image in google's android SDK with img that you get in 1st step, and than work with it.

borisb, for sure no one in a clear mind will not do an emulator of their product. This time I'm not trying to bite EE stuff, 'cos I don't know any company that officially not only made SDK or release source code, but also publish an emulator. So I don't think than EE will be ever do it.

I think the Android default emulator setup is for a phone (the small screen). Don't see anything obvious about how to change that, but I don't have time to look hard until later. I think it is about setting up an AVD.. Maybe.

I may be confused.

Is the problem that your app is running on the Android emulator using a smaller window size than the emulator display?

Or is it that the emulator itself only opens a small screen size?

My other post assumed the second issue.

Since I'm doing the development on a netbook I can't easily get the emulator to actually show up when I run it (I think it's because my screen is too small to run the proper sized emulator screen) so I'm doing it command line. Boris had it right, I'm running it on my eDGe.

Hmm. Does I miss something? I never talked about converting programs (small screen\full screen e.t.c)...
I talked about an emulator. And yes, kenjennings, I'm talked about Android Virtual Devices...

borisb, I don't need debuging password, 'cos I have root on my EE (and it mean that if needed I can change debugging password to whatever I'd like )

I'm sorry robot, my dilemma was entirely tangential to your topic. On another note, I fixed it! I simply added some lines in Android.Manifest.xml regarding screen support. Life is good.

there is an X86 Android @ http://code.google.com/p/live-android/ and http://www.androidx86.org/
As i test on 0.2, apk can install and run without changing code.

Can we start from this point to simulate e-ink screen?

keng2000, no. EE based on ARM, not x86. Also there's some EE specific libraries and drivers which not present in any other android based devices. So as I said above, you need full img dump of EE system.
Here's the example of what I'm tlaked about which we done for the NooK http://www.the-ebook.org/forum/viewt...603&highlight=
Nook also has 2 screens (lcd+eink) and as you can see in AVD emulator you can see both of them separated by border.
