Sorry, that i have to ask this question again. I always thought azw is a mobi-file with drm. Or are there azw-files without drm?
the background: we have a request from our customer who wants to sell ebooks at Amazon. We have the possibility to produce mobi. but I'm a bit lost in the in the specification of amazon. So my simple question is: if I have a mobi-pocket, can I deliver that to my customer and tell him, that this can be sold an amazon? Or what do I have to do to produce a file that can be sold on amazon? thanks georg |

AZW is just an extension, not a format. AZW files may have two types of formats Topaz and MOBI, also each format uses a different DRM.
I believe you only ever submit MOBI formats to Amazon. The Topaz is an internal solution they use for their scanned books. In your situation if you turn in a MOBI book Amazon will have no problems with it |

Topaz books normally have extension .azw1 or .tpz.
.azw does not necessarily have DRM, even if you buy it from Amazon. I bought a couple of inexpensive books from Amazon the other day, and they were .azw, but did not have DRM. |

Thanks for the information. I really wasn't sure how to create the azw-files, but since we create mobi-files we shoulf not have any problems.
The complete guide helps me a lot. Thanks again. |
