Cover in iBooks (epub)

hi,
i produce/export an ebub-File in Indesign CS4.

Everything works fine, but i don`t see on the left site
in iBooks content view the cover of my book, instead the default
brown cover.

I want my cover on the left side like in Winnie the Pooh:

Default Cover:
http://static.arstechnica.com/wifi-ipad-...er-toc.jpg

How can i fix this? maybe i can add the cover in the publishing process on iTunes?

Thx for help.

king regards

I make ePubs by hand so I'm not sure what InDesign is doing, but you need to make sure you've done the following:

- Created an iTunesArtwork file (no file extension), which is basically your cover image, which sits in the root of your ePub.
- Created an .html page for your cover image to sit on (and referenced this in the toc.ncx file).

There are things you can do in the content.opf file as well but I wouldn't worry about those until you've done the above.

Fret not about what you see when previewing your ePub on your desktop in iTunes. The cover gets added in the process of uploading to iTunes for publication.

Apple produces an iTunes Publisher's Guide that gives you all these specs.

It's a resolution issue not size. The iPad resizes image files automatically.

Why not just read the publisher's guide? I followed the guide, used 1,200 pixels longest side, and the covers turned out fine.

Unless I'm mistaken it the size of the Cover files only need to be 600x860 pixels.

ITunes Producer 2.1.2 for Books, p. 24: For best results, deliver the largest pixel dimensions possible (for example, 1200 x 1200 pixels).

Go to iTunesConnect, sign up as a publisher, and download their two guides: "iBookstore Publisher User Guide 1.3" and "Using iTunes Producer 2.1.2 for Books". You will also be downloading their upload utility, which walks you through the metadata and makes sure you have all the pertinent pieces. This is an indispensable tool.
