Metadata not being pasted into box
I have used several versionsof this great prog for a while now without to much trouble (usually my fault!!) but I am suddenly not getting the data pasted into the page. I click download metadat and the box opens and says wait and then nothing. When I check the log the data is there but it does not appear in the box. My problem is that it is not consistant sometimes it does what it's supposed to but then nothing. Has anyone come across this before? I thought it might be because I'd updated to 0.8.7 so uninstalled and went back to 0.8.6 but that's just the same. I am using Goodread, Google, Amazon and ISBNDB.
This is a sample of what I get in the log but nothing appears in the main box. I left this one running for 10 minutes to see if anything happened ie timeout or something but all that was happening is that it was still saying please wait and the dotted line kept going. If you ever wondered what it was like for the first reasoning humans, this is the perfect way to learn. It's as though Auel has opened up a time portal, travelled with and lived with actual human beings as they begin their journey towards the people we are today. Moving and majestic, this story sweeps all before it and encompasses everything we know about our ancestors as they trek through central Europe and set up home in the caves there. All life is here in all its glory, the loves, the jealousy, the rivalry, the medicines . . . A compelling historical drama with every modern trait of the human being, but set in the days when the world was young. Magnificent, and a privilege to be able to read it. You must read this.' (_Books Monthly_ ) 'She deftly creates a whole world, giving a sense of the origins of class, ethnic and cultural differences that alternately divide and fascinate us today. Among modern epic spinners, Auel has few peers.' (_Kirkus Reviews_ ) 'Incredibly poignant and relevant to today' (_Sun_ 4 stars ) 'She does have a most extraordinary talent for recreating lost worlds' (Kate Saunders, Books Quarterly ) Product Description THE LAND OF PAINTED CAVES concludes the story of Ayla, her mate Jondalar, and their little daughter, Jonayla, taking readers on a journey of discovery and adventure as Ayla struggles to find a balance between her duties as a new mother and her training to become a Zelandoni - one of the Ninth Cave community's spiritual leaders and healers. You're having networking trouble. Look at all the timeouts in the log. The final queries to xisbn to merge the metadata are also probably timing out, which is causing it to hang.

Hi again,
Had my network checked and it seems to be running fine but I am still having problems. The following was copied from the clipboard after I left it running for 15 minutes (the info was there within seconds!). I left it running and it was still running after 30 min when I closed it. There are no timeouts, it just does not seem to acknowledge any info is there to be displayed. I have updated to the 0.8.8 but the results are the same. Any pointers would be helpful and appreciated. Two New York society folks, Susy Branch and Nick Lansing, decide to marry -- for business reasons, as it were. They're in love, all right, but neither of them has enough money to live life the way they think it ought to be lived. They'll get married, collect lot of wedding bootie -- then they'll go their separate ways. It might work as a farce from someone else, but this is Edith Wharton, and the tale as she tells it is deeper and more compelling than could ever be described here. . . . ************************************************** ****************************** ****************************** Amazon.com ****************************** Request extra headers: [('User-agent', 'Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1')] Found 2 results Downloading from Amazon.com took 9.03400015831 --- Title : Glimpses of the Moon Author(s) : Edith Wharton Publisher : Pushkin Press Language : en Rating : 4.0 Published : 2006-02-27T00:00:00+00:00 Identifiers : isbn:9781901285567, amazon_uk:1901285561 Comments : <h3>Review</h3><p>"Wharton's unjustly neglected novel...a luscious, worldly, sensuous read, surely the equal of its most obvious offspring - Tender is the Night." This happens to me occasionally. (I do have a terrible connection at present)
I have had logs similiar to the above. Usually it finishes eventually, but if it doesn't I try again later and it is fine. Helen |

As per that log, it is hanging waiting to hear back from the xisbn service. I'll change it for the next release so that it times out after a few seconds if xisbn does not respond.

Thanks again for the very fast response, it makes it seem that we count. Anyway, I saw another thread and the guy said he's shut off isbnd so I tried it and it now works great. In fact it's the best it's ever been, lightning fast and even without an isbn number it still finds the book. This is one thing I have a problem with since I 1st installed the program and now it just does exactly what it's supposed to do. Brilliant!!!
