Hello from NY

Hello all, just bought a K2 after agonizing over whether the PDF support justified a DX (decided it didn't.) I actually bought the K2 to participate in the Infinite Summer group read - really enjoying using it for this; much more portable than the 1000 page book, and also has the additional advantage that I can read it on either the K2 or the Kindle app on my iPhone. Nice to be here.

Hi jmignault, welcome to MR!

If you enjoy your Kindle as much as I do mine, you'll be a very happy person!

Welcome to MobileRead, jmignault!

Isn't e-reading a blast! I have been reading ebooks for a few years now and hate it when I have to go back to the ancient paper books! Don't be shy about asking questions or jumping into any of the forums. People here at MR are wonderfully helpful and supportive. Enjoy your new toy.

Happy Reading!

I'm starting to read modern fiction again, after a long hiatus reading mostly technical material and non-fiction for work (I'm a systems librarian.) A few favorite authors off the top of my head: James Joyce, David Foster Wallace, P.G. Wodehouse, S.J. Perelman, Lorrie Moore, Mavis Gallant, William Trevor, Roald Dahl, William Gaddis...One of the reasons I bought the Kindle 2 rather than the DX was that I wanted an e-reader that wasn't a laptop, netbook, etc - something that wasn't for business and had no distractions.

About the only drawback I can see to the Kindle is that I do read poetry, and the copy of Leaves of Grass I bought looks terrible on Kindle - lines broken all over the place.
