Designer portrays London Tube with E Ink
We've heard all sorts of buzz about how electronic paper might change the world, like you know, with displays bendable in every direction, readable in the brightest sunlight, and requiring virtually no power. Alex Griffin goes one step further. In what I suppose is a student project, he rendered a series of awe-inspiring scenes of the London Underground equipped with electronic paper technology. All I have to say is that this guy is seriously talented!
To check out Alex's video, go to his website, click on "Design", then on "E*Ink", and then "Play Film" (don't we all love Flash for its user-friendliness?). |

Nice, but the above example would decrease the amount of advertising revenue generated... There are usually posters on the far wall in startions...

I wonder how well the plastic covering the screen will last with all the soot and outside dirt?

But it could replace the flip boards and the old bulb displays for the large departure and arrival boards. Also at a lot of US airports the departures and arrivals are currently displayed on CRT monitors so this could be a great upgrade.

Yes, at an airport I would think the power savings vs CRT/LCD could definitely add up.
