An expensive lesson learnt :(

Just got home after errands, a stop for coffee and decided to shovel my drive and the neighbours.

Put the Kobo in my trousers pocket in my Root's sleeve.

Almost finished when... I slipped

Sigh; I came down on my side. and of course, the side where my wallet and the Kobo was.

I had a sinking feeling but waited till I came into the house.

One dead screen

At least I have been able to connect it and do a sync

In the words of former president Bill Clinton "I feel your pain". Did something similar myself, stuck my Libra Pro in my pocket of my over coat along with a few other things, when I pulled it out the screen was smashed.

Not sure even a good quality cover would save a Kobo with an impact like that.

Sorry to hear about what happened.

Wow, total bummer!

If I was without my Kobo at this point... I would want to die. It would feel like someone took away my ability to read.

So, I feel ya.

Luckily we do have a spare in the house; the wife and I had each got Kobo-1's. I had upgraded to WiFi and donate mine to a raffle at church. The wife got a WiFi for Christmas, and we still had her Kobo-1 in the house.

So guess I am back to classic for now

Sorry to hear.

Take a paper book and enjoy a read. I think these still exist.

It sucks but look on the bright side, you haven't broken any bones yourself in that fall. Better gadgets than us!

Now there is a good reason for a spare. Upgrade the firmware and you may not even notice the difference!

we have three here, but if one of ours breaks, it just gives me a good excuse to look at some of the newer devices coming out to market

Hmmm. Now the question becomes is there any way to replace the screen from your Kobo wifi with the one in your older Kobo? Got any friends who are good with a soldering iron?

I'd rather not risk messing up another Kobo in trying that

At least right now I can still use the old one, and also, if I do replace it, I can always put the Kobo-1 on eBay or donate it for an auction again.
