DRM doesn't have a very good beat. I can't dance to it.

I wouldn't say that DRM is "evil," but I do think it should be done away with entirely.

It's not necessarily evil. More or less a pain in the arse, and it should be done away with.

It's Evil. Trust me. If you are wondering what my history is, I wrote the Palm DRM for Embiid Publishing.

Agreed. It doesn't prevent piracy IMO. All it does is aggravate customers when they need to transfer their bought books from one reader to another. I was very lucky to have figured out how to de-drm my books. With the help from the wonderful people from Calibre, I was able to convert and transfer books from my Kobo to my Kindle. I found it funny that converting my books from one format to another was harder than stripping the drm off them (when I learned to strip DRM there were no easy to use plug-ins at the time ).

I think if anything DRM encourages piracy, people want to be able to use what they buy on different devices.

I leave it out of everything I do. I just don't understand intentionally annoying people who've paid for your content.

DRM doesn't bother me, but I doubt it does the publishers any good. It just bugs people.

Calibre (with 3rd party plugin) removes DRM so seamlessly that I usually don't even notice if DRM is present. So for me DRM is evil in the way a wet noodle is evil.

DRM is bad. I think the misunderstanding is in the "Rights" part of DRM. Once you have purchased the file the rights for that copy transfer to you. The very idea of someone attempting to dictate how you can use a file that you own is just ridiculous.
I personally think that any form of encryption should never be allowed on any file that is for sale to the public, including ebooks, DVD, CD, Bluray, etc... |

I wouldn't count on that always being possible though. Creating and distributing those scripts is getting riskier all the time, and I can't see many people risking jail time to provide them. It's not like console modding, where there would be a profit to be made from it.

I am sure it comes as no surprise but I voted "evil".
