The omens are upon us....
I think am destined to lose some bit of my electronic family soon:
So far in the last 2 weeks... I have left my backpack with my Zaurus and reader in it. And when swinging it onto a table had my PDA fly across the room onto a tiled floor. Knocked my reader onto a tiled floor from the heights of about 2 feet. Tripped on the bus and slapped my reader against a metal handrail. Put my reader on my bed while sorting out my pillows and inadvertantly covered it. Then leant on the covering with the reader beneath with my elbow. Put my reader back into my pocket upside down without securing the cover (and with the inique this means that it can fall straight out of the cover). |

Are you subconsciously trying to create a good reason to buy some other reader?

Tim? Is that you? Yes, I'm still mad that you left my phone on the car seat yesterday in the sun and it melted.
Riocaz, you sound about as graceful with electronics as my husband is. |

Question for everyone EXCEPT Riocaz:
Can I buy another phone and just pop in my SIM card, assuming it is not also melted? |

You can provided your new phone is not SIM-locked to another carrier. For example you can use a T-Mobile SIM with any T-Mobile phone, but not with an AT&T or Cingular phone unless that phone has been unlocked by the carrier.

Just adding to everything else that's been said with the melted phone, contact your provider about it, you may qualify for a new free or discounted phone depending where you are in your contract.
Riocaz, You need to put all your electronics into waterproof ziplock bags, surround them in bubblewrap, wrap 3" of foam rubber around that, and put them somewhere safe until all this blows over. |

I think that Riocaz had better get a good insurance policy, given that he is so accident-prone. Something that covers both loss and accidental damage seems indicated.
