Animation in ebook

Hello everyone,

I am an animator looking to turn my children's book into an ebook. I'd also like to add animation. Can anyone tell me what software would be suitable for this and what format? I've heard ePub files do not work with animation.

Thank you

E-Ink displays are not very good at rapid screen changes. That said, you can do partial refresh/drawing to defined rectangles, if I understand it correctly.
Ereaders would not be a good choice, but there are tablets and with those you can have color (important for children's books) as well. You might want to look up/google the epub spec., "Sigil" an epub editor, describes adding video and audio files to an epub.

Luck;
Ken

I guess it's not what you are looking for, but for those who are looking for page turning simulation of real paper book and similar transitions for ebooks, pdfs and rared/zipped images, they can just use any tablet and ebook or pdf app that already has got such capabilities.

For epub/mobi it is almost every other app there.

For pdfs and comics(cbz,cbr) on iOS you can try Perfect Reader and Sidebooks which are free.

For children's ebooks creation we can use adobe flash and sprite sheet creator, like this guy

or apps like

or online services like StoryJumper, PubbSoft ...
