Blank page precedes Chapter One
I am SO CLOSE to finalizing my first Calibre conversion from RTF to MOBI for Kindle use, but have come upon a small glitch.
When setting up the Chapter action, I made it so there is a page break for each new chapter. Because of this, a blank page loads in front of the first chapter. So, on my Kindle, instead of opening to the first chapter, it opens to a blank page. And, of course, if you ask to go to the cover, then page forward, you then go to a blank page, THEN to the first chapter. Is there a way to put some sort of exception on that first chapter remove the page break in just that one instance? Thanks! Shelley |

use the tweak tool and a text/html editor to see what is at the end of the previous page (or if a page is really empty, in the code there). |

select your EPUB in the Library.
Tap "T" Click: Explode You now see a standard looking folder that contains all the parts that make your EPUB Use a TEXT only editor (Notepad, Notepad++) to view the pieces. Do not change/delete any filenames, you will break things unless you make very specific other changes. You are looking for the file being used before the first chapter (Unfortunately, reading the NCX is probably the only way to find the name of the file: play order) if you make a change inside a file, Save and click "rebuild EPUB" to put the revised book back together. |

The OP was talking about a RTF->MOBI conversion. I believe the tweak tool only works on ePub files, so you'd have to convert to ePub first.

The best solution in this case is to go RTF > ePub. Then get the ePub the way you want. Once that's done, go ePub > Mobi. Mobi is not made for editing. You're best off editing ePub and then converting ePub to Mobi.
