The EB-100 looks very much like the other 6-inch e-book readers we've seen coming from the Far East, so let's focus on the EB-300:
  • Screen: 9.7" E Ink e-paper, touch-enabled
  • Resolution: 1200 x 825 pixels, 170 dpi, 4 grayscale
  • Dimensions: 255mm(H )x 195mm(W) x 14mm(D)
  • Memory: 4Gbit NAND type (Flash), 64MB (SDRAM)
  • Storage: SD Card
  • Connectivity: 802.11g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
  • Power: 3.7V 2100mAh Li-ion
  • Interfaces: 2x USB, 1x stereo
  • OS: Windows 5.0
  • E-book formats: TXT, PDF, RTF, HTML, BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG, MP3, AAC
Full specs attached.

Adding some meat to this story, earlier this year famed E Ink panel manufacturer PVI bought shares of Netronix with the goal to "jointly enter the e-book market." Now we're yearning for a release date.

Thanks to eagle-eyed lee1234 for the news!

Nice to know you Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I think all of us at Mobileread have a lot of questions about the WinCE 9.7 inch e-paper display that your company is launching. Could you provide us with your email?

thanks

So, there will be 3 devices.
2x6" devices 1 just a reader and another with a full set of features.
1x9.7" with full set of features.

correct?

Certainly. But remember that *SOME* of us have found that the listed emails, sales@netronixinc.com and support@netronixinc.com, have been getting rejected as undeliverable. For personal and direct contact, having a *working* email is necessary!

By full set of features on the 100 I presume you mean wifi and touch screen. I wonder if they switch to Win CE for that unit to match the 300?

The 300 also includes a second USB port and Bluetooth.

Anyway, the things we know so far for both units and the company are now up on the wiki.

My interpretation of:
Quote:
EB100 is our entry level products and EB300 for both 6" & 9.7" E-paper Panel with WinCE platform which could support WiFi, Touchscreen & Bluetooth & SD3G will be coming soon probably by end June for 6" and end of Sept. for 9.7".
Is that the EB100 is the Linux-based device similar to what we have seen from others, and the EB300 comes in two sizes 6" and 9.7" both with WinCE.

Hi Lisa, I have a question for you, does your 9.7 inch ebook device have Mobipocket Reader and/ or FBReader?

FBReader does not run on WinCE, but uBook does and is often recommended. Will uBook run on the EB300?

Will any "commercial" Reader Software (e.g. MobiPocket, eReader, MicroSoft LIT) run on the EB300?

Over at www.dt375.com they have copies of Mobipocket Reader, Palm Ereader, MSReader and Ubook that will run on WinCE 4.2. These same readers might run on the EB-300, but we won't know until someone tries.

I'd be very interested in the Linux-based EB100 if its reasonably priced and if its an open device (sdk available, etc).

I have added the EB-300 to the wiki's E-book Reader Matrix.

Things we don't know include its weight and processor type.

The battery is very large (2100 mAh), but perhaps this is a lesson learned from the iLiad. 512MB (4Gb) Flash memory, is also a lot.

I find the possibility of SD3G (see post #46 above) interesting too. All these connectivity options, without mention of a web browser and without (yet) an on-line e-book partner.

I think it is a little early to add to the matrix since this is used for buy decisions and it is still vapor near as I can tell. It is 4 Gb (bit not byte) of flash memory but that is still a lot. I did put the description on the web site for both the EB-100 and EB-300 but I hope people don't think these are shipping products. The Hanlin V9 will also be placed up there on the wiki when I get a chance if someone doesn't beat me to it. This is another vapor product but the company at least has a good track record of shipping products.

The matrix has usually included not yet released products, although at present only the Readius and EB-300 are in that category.

Thanks for catching 4Gb, I have updated the EB-300 wiki entries to 512MB.
