Mein Spanisch ist jetzt nicht so gut, und Google Translate will auch nicht.
Hat jemand Infos in Deutsch/Englisch über das Gerät ? |

Here are English and German pages, courtesy of Google Chrome, though the PDF printer seems to have dropped the graphics.

Something not quite right about the screen specs - a 9" display of 800x600 at 167 ppi yet other SiPix devices (such as proposed ASUS, Hanlin etc) are 1024x768 at 142 ppi.

yeah the pricing vs the specs is a big nono... Asus DR 900 is supposed to be almost half that price (well we'll see about that anyway)... with similar features...
i recall IREX that went bancrupt after pricing their DR800 at $399 and complaining about the lack of customer interest... |

well selling is not a good word here they are trying to clear the stock but without the price dropping down at least by a half, it will take a while to complete that...
IREX now became IRX and are planning to go for business area only with their new development loosing an interetest in consumer electronics... there are only 24 employees there so - good luck guys! |

Charbax has a video demo of the booq Avant 6″ SiPix e-reader from IFA. Very near the end it includes a non-functioning 9" device, on sale by the end of the month. The SiPix screen looks pretty good, fast page turns and ok contrast. EInk needs to switch quickly from Vizplex to Pearl in order to avoid losing market share.

Current Vizplex Eink already exceeds both the DPI and contrast of SiPix epaper.
For page turn speed, what they are doing with that device is using partial refresh for 6-10 pages and the a full refresh. so you get a speedy dirty page turn for awhile and then a full clean "flash" refresh every so often. The better eink based readers allow you to do this as well. Last edited by Dulin's Books; 09-06-2010 at 03:24 PM. |

Is Sipix e-paper electrophoretic technology ? I thought they were more or less LCD screens, but then I don't understand the eInk-like slow refresh. Sipix is the company that made those hybrid reflective / backlighten color LCD, right ?
