I use pictures of ladies in fancy dresses, primarily Victorian style. I try to find paintings that depict the women reading, but I have deviated as the occasion warranted. I believe a few of the gentlemen will recall one of my more provocative party frocks.

Mine is the result of doodling in my very first college class -- U.S. History, part 1 -- waaaaay back in '89. There was lots of time to doodle, in spite of the fact that it was a summer class, and only lasted six weeks.
It just kinda grew out of the doodles, and I decided I liked it, and here I am still using it twenty years later. ... now I feel old. |

When I joined about 2-1/2 years ago, many of the members had drawings of their portraits (think Alex and Bob Russell) or custom symbols (like NatCh.) I used a stock avatar for the first three or four postsI then uploaded another avatar (still in use for my name on the Frapper map) but it did not fit. By about the 15th post I uploaded the changing UPC symbol that I still use. Also, after all this time and over 5,000 posts it still feels right.

I found a website that let me make a custom avatar head. It might look like me.
The site I used to create my avatar is: Portrait Illustration Maker Last edited by Justy; 02-27-2009 at 01:43 AM. |

I'm personally blessed with only a couple of member-created avatars, but they are truly delightful. Monkey-mask-propeller-beanie-head is courtesy of the marvellous, if morose, planethead (a.k.a. taylor514ce), and I've also this one: created by the wonderful nekokami, which I will sometimes also segment into its component bits and use. Occasionally I cycle through a photo of myself too (by which I don't mean I print out a 6' self-portrait and hop on my Malvern Star for some symbolic stunt action). Cheers, Marc |

Mine is a picture I took at the local flying fox colony. I'm a member of a group that looks after the flying foxes by promoting them, doing bush regeneration and hosing vegetation during heat waves.

I made this picture a year ago (more or less), just after we rescued our first cat from the shelter (he was our second cat, I "rescued" my first cat from my mother...)
He's just an awesome cat! |

Some of us have Moderator Super Powerz and have a secret plan...
My Avatar changes so many times that you can't keep up. Mostly I swipe them from Ask Images, but Ravenne and Zelda have provided many. Oh, and Ricky Maveety. |
