Happy Thanksgiving
I'm from Canada and we're celebrating Thanksgiving today, and I wanted to take the time to wish you one, and to thank you for all your wonderful support.
Thank you, Mike |

With much Canadian Thanksgiving we celebrate the joyous stumbling upon of our continent by Columbus!
Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians! (BTW- do you celebrate with turkey and stuffing, mashed plain and/or sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and pumkin pie? Just curious...) We celebrate Columbus Day with federal closings, no banking and no mail and a day off school for those who are in school and probably don't know who Columbus even is. So, Happy Columbus Day to those who work in banks or other federal offices, mail carriers and school children across the country! The rest of us (with jobs) still have to work. Actually I would celebrate if my husband HAD a job to go to today! Last edited by rebarnmom; 10-12-2009 at 12:04 PM. |

We are having a 14lb turkey with stuffing, roast potatoes, green beans, spinach salad, gravy, fresh cranberry sauce, pumpkin and lemon pie with a tonne of whipped cream. And then we continue to eat same until all is gone, and then we eat the soup.
Awesome. |

To you "Columbus of MobileRead" we offer our thanksgiving and honor! Sorry for missing that!
Do they celebrate Columbus Day in Spain? I'm just full of questions this day! And Happy Chocolate Week (thanks to GeoffC for that delicious tidbit)! I'm off in search of some to celebrate with! |

Today 12th October is a national holiday here in Spain, but it depends which source you read as to it's significance. It is quoted as Spanish National day, Feast of the Virgin Pilar, Columbus Day, All saints day amongst others. Perhaps a Spanish National could advise us. |

Happy Thanksgiving to our northern neighbors!
Now as far as I'm concerned Columbus day is a BS holiday. |

We don't do Thanksgiving down this way (and, when I say "we", I'm being way too overly broad and forgetting no doubt many ex-pats or residents here from countries that do). However, in 2000 I got to enjoy it with some Michigan friends in a bushy place in their self-built house some hours north of Detroit, and I give thanks for having had that experience.
Pumpkin Pie is weird. Cheers, Marc |
