There have been quite a few 'independent nations' created in Australia over the years. Probably the longest-lasting is a sheep-and-wheat station in Western Australia, it has a prince and everything! And, ironically enough, it's probably larger than numerous other internationally-recognised nations put together *lol*

Y'all can say what you want about Texas, but we Hawaiians have the only bona fide US royalty, and the only royal palace on US soil!

I get bemused at threads like this. You know, nobody complains when a French citizen wishes to live their life by their customs, or that a Dane has different customs than a Spainard, or even that a Californian had different views than a Maine citizen. But let a Texan be unabashedly Texan, following Texas customs, and half the US is jumping down our throat, bashing us for being uncouth and maybe being the second coming of the Anti-Christ. I don't understand their heartburn.

Anyway, I don't know why anyone would need to understand a Texan... as long as they know how to duck and cover... |

All you need to know about Texas (and maybe Texans?) is contained in the Austin Lounge Lizards song Stupid Texas Song. Complete lyrics and a 40-second clip at the URL.
Don't blame me for the song -- they're the Texans, not me! Just be aware that the Lounge Lizards' repertoire lacks any claim to seriousness. Humor, satire, etc... sure. Seriousness -- not a chance! Xenophon Last edited by Xenophon; 08-10-2009 at 02:18 PM. Reason: forgot the smilie! |

I feel like I can understand Texans very well, but every once in a while they might have to repeat something for me.

We only despise people who tell us to sit down and shut up...or use sneaky ways to rob us. P.S. Randy Newman (Political Science) is not a Texan... |
