MSNBC mobile not updated
MSNBC Mobile channel has not been updated since the 12th of December.
If you use an Opera Browser (on the PC) and identify your browser as Opera (default is IE) and browse to http://msnbc.msn.com you can still access the updated mobile web site. How do you identify ISiloX as Opera? |

To make make iSilo appear as Opera, you have to go to iSiloX and choose in the Menu: Tools -> Options -> HTTP -> Custom There you enter the following string: Opera/7.23 (Windows NT 5.1; U) [en] Notice that I usually have something like Mozilla/3.0 (compatible; AvantGo 3.2) in there since some mobile pages are looking for Avantgo. Unfortunately, iSilo does not allow a per-channel setting here yet. Greets Alex |

Well that information got me to a page that was last updated on 1/5. A little better than 12/12 but still not current

hey starbuckk,
although the index says 01/05, the articles are actually up-to-date. Just tested it myself. Alex |

And the site is definitely using the header to determine how to render it. The content is very different at that page with IE, but I used WebWasher to force my header to the one presented here and got the mobile friendly version even in IE. Interesting! Maybe a good way to test other sites for hidden mobile friendliness... |

It looks like MSNBC updated their site in December. The Avantgo channel now goes somewhere completely different than where it used to. I don't know how long the current page will still be updated.

Looks like MSNBC must have caught up with this and changed it. Today I ended up cancelling the download after over half an hour of it downloading just MSNBC and getting tons and tons of stuff.

Another one down...Guess they will be promoting their Wireless Traveler push site more...
The site is still available through AvantGo...but until somebody reveal the URL, It's no go for iSilo... |

The AvantGo version is also http://www.msnbc.msn.com with the AvantGo User Agent:
Mozilla/3.0 (compatible; AvantGo 3.2) Works fine here with iSiloX. |

Ok the header was the trick. Now it's back to normal.
So what exactly is the trick to drilling out URL's that Avantgo uses? I gave Avantgo a "second chance" not long ago. Memory demands were so bad I got rid of it again. |

Lots of glitches with the Palm OS5 version of Avantgo. MSNBC or not. Are there still people working on Avantgo? ever since it got bought, updates has dried up and even the final OS5 version is a beta that they didn't even rebadge...ooops, getting off-topic.
Good to see that the Mozilla header still work, the Opera one no longer work anymore. |

Actually what I'm looking for is how folks are finding out what the URL's are. Avantgo hides them, I presume intentionally.
