Yeah, 6 in this thread... I wonder what it was about November 2010 that caused all of us to go buy them at the same time. Was there a major advertising blitz that we fell for? Were the just then available in stores? (It was seeing the new Perl screen in person at Target that pushed me over, though it took about a month to convince myself to spend the money)

January 2011. In use just about every day. One of my best purchases.

I got my K3-3g in September 2010 as a Bday present to me while I was on a business trip. I really liked being able to have a lot of books with me without the bulk of a lot of books. In June 2011 I bought a second one to keep in my desk at work. This one was also a 3g model, but the SO version.

Early October 2010. 3G model. Works perfectly and is a treasured possession.
Purchased another October 2011. Also perfect. |

Mine is, err... not quite three months old. A post-Christmas treat to myself. Hoping I get a good long life out of it.

How old is your Kindle three?
I left out some stuff when I posted the above. I bought it because my Kindle 2 joystick key split down the middle and I bought the Kindle 3 because I was afraid to try and glue it back together and have no reader if I failed at repairing it and instead made the situation worse. After getting the Kindle 3 and transferring my content I told a friend about my plans for the Kindle 2 and he said 'before you try and glue that key call Kindle support and see if they'll do something for you'. Well they certainly did (they replaced it no charge even though it was over a year old). I've used the Kindle 3 pretty much all day every day since I got it and do not consider the next generation of Kindles to be any kind of worthwhile upgrade. I passed the replacement Kindle 2 on to my wife and it's still working flawlessly as well.

I got mine in September 2010. There really wasn't any competition worth looking at for a similar price in the Australian market at the time.
I've read on it every day since I've bought it and it has ushered in a golden age of reading in my life. I was a reader before, but not as voracious as I am now. I recently considered "upgrading" to the Touch, but have decided that unless something happens to my current reader I'll just wait to see what the next version brings. Now, the Australian market has more competition with the Kobo Touch a more competitive offering at a great price and the new Sony being a bit better priced than previous models. I have all my books converted to epub on purchase to ensure that I'm free to choose my next reader, but I suspect that Amazon will get my next purchase. |

September 2010. Fairly heavy user (sharing it between self and missus) so battery life is down to about a week now, and there's an intermittent issue where it sometimes won't charge on the first attempt. Otherwise solid as a rock! And no intention of 'upgrading' (though the missus may get her own K4-NT later this year).
