Kindle in Thailand before Europe??

According to an article in the Bangkok Post yesterday, it seems there are already a few hundred Kindles in use in Thailand.

All this before the UK and the rest of Europe gets it?

It's just a bunch of guys that import Kindles and re-sell them. It's effectively a club. If there are geographical restrictions on the resale of Kindles, keep in mind that Thailand is not a place that exactly respects that sort of thing.

I'm currently in Thailand. It will never catch on here. It will never likely support Whispernet. The Thai cellphone companies... Never mind. It will never work here. The culture isn't interested, and the cost is more than a top-end cellphone -- something people would want much more. It's half or more of the price of a new motorcycle, which would be a more realistic dream of many families.

It will never reach critical mass here. Never.

There are probably also a few hundred kindles here in Europe too (if not more). People will always find ways to circumvent geographical restrictions (think ebay)
