where I come from the library at my social club usually binds books in hardcover
if book cover is to them not suitable for public viewing.
Even my sisters and female cousins put plain covers on books they read as the images on the covers would be frowned upon or their book selection restricted.

They could try doing the reverse of Bloomsbury publishing Harry Potter in 'Adult' covers.
