Why you shouldn't leave your iphone on the bumper of a pickup truck

No it's not my phone. This phone travelled about a mile on the bumper before it fell off and then got run over I don't know how many times. It was on the roadway for over 2 hours.

Amazingly we were able to turn it on and do a sync and backup. It would even ring but because the touchscreen is wrecked you can't answer a call. It's in an Otterbox Defender case. I bet without it there would have been only tiny pieces left.

They were working on the brakes of the truck. It's a nice old 1970 chevy. I guess he just put it down for a minute and forgot about it.

He got lucky though. He had 18 months left on the contract but he didn't have to pay a penalty. Apparently he had loyalty credit. He just had to pay the normal cost of the phone for the new 3 year contract he signed. Now he's got the iphone 4s.

What's wrong with a 3 year contract? I've had two phones in the last 10 years.

I agree with Harry. We've been with the same company since we started using cellphones.

Wonder how well "rugged" phones would handle similar abuse.

I reckon the following still isn't quite the same level of abuse as that iPhone saw.

Its a looong time. If you are the kind of person who has any foresight then it is fine, but *many* people don't have that and might get lured into a plan they can't use.

Here in Denmark the companies are only allowed to bind people for 6 months, to combat that.
