I cannot access my wifi

Hello, I have just received my Edge and I am starting to use it. I have tried to connect with my wifi, but I have been unsuccessful.

I have followed the steps of the User Guide: applications, then networking. I have added a network, I have input my WEP key. The Wireless switch is ON.

My Wi-Fi works well, I am writing this from my laptop, which is using WLAN_38.

In the list of Wi-Fi networks, it is there (WLAN_38). And then in Wi-Fi Settings, it says: "Obtaining IP address from WLAN_38 ...". And after a few seconds, "Unsuccessful". I cannot open anything with the browser.

What can I do?

Hi Farstar,

One thing you can try is to turn of the WiFi on the device using the physical WiFi switch. Once you have turned the WiFi off this way, wait about 30 seconds before turning it on using the switch. This often helps resolve this kind of issue.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi done,

thank you very much for your reply. However, I have tried what you suggested (I have moved the switch to the left, and then to the right), to no avail. It says again: "Obtaining IP address from WLAN_38 ...". And after a few seconds, "Unsuccessful". Any other idea?

I am sorry to keep asking about this but did you leave it off for 30 sec?

I have left it off for 30 sec but it does the same: Unsuccessful.

Now I will leave it off for 5 minutes, and I will see.

I have disconnected the router and connected again, but it continues without working.

In Wi-Fi settings it says: Unsuccessful. In Wi-Fi networks: Remembered, secured with WEP.

It is really a bad feeling when something as simple as Wi-Fi does not work ...

Hi again,

Can you call tech support? It would better and easier for us to troubleshoot this issue either over the phone. The number is 1-703-650-5381 or if you would like we can call you - just send an email to techsupport@entourageedge.com with your info. We can also do it via email if you would prefer.

Also are you able to connect to a WiFi network with a different security protocol?

Thank you for your help!

Sorry I wasn't here to see this, I would have responded right away - this is exactly what happened to me (hung at the obtaining IP status, then "Unsuccessful") and I had to go into my router and delete the connection it thought it had for me. I posted it in the other wifi problem thread.

Thanks for the heads up Sarah, I will be adding info from that thread to the KB article as well.

Switch to WPA if possible. Much better than wep! Not sure if anyone had the same issues with a WPA connection. It would also be helpful if you listed the manf. of your wifi router. This may be an issue with Dlink or Netgear, etc..... I had no issues with my Linksys router and I have MAC address filtering and other advanced security settings.
