My kindle dx will not power up. Alas, it is just out of its' warranty period.

Hello to all,
Sorry, I did not mean to be geauche. I am not sure where I was supposed to introduce myself. Everytime I clicked on, "introduce yourself", I seemed to have been swallowed up by a loop of somesort and never did get it sorted out.
My name is Chris and I reside in Fairhope, Alabama, on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay. I am 70 years old and read a good bit, especially on the treadmill at the wellness center.
It turns out that my charger had failed and I think my battery was discharged. I will check it out in just a few
