80 column monospace txt to pdf
Alot of technical content is available in 80 column monospace txt files. For example:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kerne...ad832d;hb=HEAD However, I can not figure out how to generate a PDF to read on a Kindle/Sony Reader from this type of file. Alot of tools I have tried want to reflow this text or generate a PDF that doesn't go fully to the margins (there are several inches of white space). What tool can you recommend to generate PDFs from txt? |

Easy!
Print the page with Bullzip pdf printer with A4 size.
Then use Briss to cut a little gutter on right. (I tried that with the link you provided) If you dont want that font on your e-reader, just change font settings of browser to your preferred ones before printing. (That works really fine.) |

Why not just use the advice in Sony's guide for creating PDFs for the reader -- i.e., set the page size to the size of the screen, with no margins or minimal margins and no header/footer.... (I'd reverse the sizes though so it fits landscape--it'll be MUCH easier to read in landscape) but set it to a monospaced font and size it as big as it can get without wrapping, and export.

I got decent results doing the following:
1. opened the txt file in Wordpad and resaved as RTF. 2. select all text and change font to Lucida Console and 12 pt. 3. printed as PDF using PrimoPDF (http://primopdf.com), a printer driver that generates PDFs, on "Letter" sized output with zero margins. even so, it does read much better in landscape mode. BTW, the Author and Title fields PrimoPDF creates (optional) don't display properly on my K3 |
