602 G sensor and inner synth to build a theremin app

Hi developpers, here is an idea.
since the PB60x and 90x have inner synth and G sensor, why not combining the two in a funny app replicating the theremin musical instrument
X axe dedicated to volume and Y axe dedicated to frequency.
mathematically generated triangle or sine wave.... and >Voilà ... an innovative and quitely evocative new app.

some functions like octave selection, tremolo speed and the like,dedicated to keys control...

And... as we are on the subject of new applications, How simple mortal as me, could build himself a new app for those shinny things(60x and 90x)?

Hi Dag and welcome to the forum,
I would say that new apps (which don't rely much on permissions etc) it is pretty straight forward and simple. The challenge begins if you try to port more complex programs which might depend on a good number of libraries. Then you need to port first all the libraries and then, if this all worked, you might begin to port your main program. However, full integration in the whole system of this app is a bit of a challenge (which can be seen in the case of Pocketbooks midori: rotating the screen does not have any effect and even the buttons don't do a lot. Further the touchscreens seems to be independent of the calibration).

In general: writing your own little applications is little or no effort.

However, porting a bit more complex projects like the CoolReader application takes some good amount of patience and time. A user called JimStar claims that he has ported Coolreader and he has posted some videos but he never published it so no one can check if his port is really usable or full of bugs and quirks. I've worked quite a bit on the pocketbook and understand the challenges which Pocketbook mentions as an answer why they don't want to port Coolreader: Dictionary support and Text-to-Speech wouldn't be integrated without much effort.

But in general it is pretty straight forward, however you might want to wait for the official SDK which should arrive any time soon (-ish). But even without the official SDK you might do your own development with the unoffical cross-compiler posted elsewhere in this forum.
