Dieses 1813 erschienene Werk (454 Seiten) von Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué ist der beste seiner Ritter-Romane. Zu Recht wurde vom Winkler Verlag 1984 eine neue Edition nach der Erstausgabe veröffentlicht. Auf dieser Textvorlage fußt das eBook.
Zwei der Figuren, Folko von Montfaucon und seine Gattin, lässt Fouqué übrigens später in seinem Roman "Sintram" (1815) wieder auftreten - ein Ansatz zu einem literarischen Kosmos mittelalterlicher Fantasy.

Die 9 Illustrationen von C. Hartmann stammen aus der zweiten Auflage von 1816.
