*sigh
those of us who like reading are into communication too - after all that is what the written word IS! I have found Calibre confusing too, but there is no way I would say anything so rude without doing a heap of research first and feeling completely justified in what I say. I have only been playing with Calibre for about a week - I am gradually getting my head around it. I reckon if you want software with a fantastic user interface which is flexible enough for just about anybody to use via intuition - well you have to expect to pay money for that. Anything which is free should require some effort to understand and use. Unless of course you are prepared to enter into a co-operative relationship with the developer to write further support documentation - but - ummm - isn't that what this forum is for? The support documentation from Calibre SAYS to use this forum. For support, right? Not for complaints. Definitely not for diatribes!!! At the moment I am torn between learning more about Calibre and actually reading books on my eReader!! I think the reading will be winning - soon Angela |

I love Calibre, it's my eBookshelf.
I'm silly, I even scour the web for better covers or even design my own. I haven't used it as much for news content though. Regards Caleb |

It's possible! Much of my family on both sides came from around the MD/VA/WV area, and my female ancestors were pretty wild.
I even have a genre prefix system, since the mp3 specification won't bend to my will. Quote:

Well, if you're silly then so am I. I've spent entirely too much time getting "just the right" book cover, despite the fact that I rarely even see the covers except when working in Calibre. I haven't made my own yet for the missing ones, but that's only because it's hard using Gimp on this laptop. For now I've been using the ones that Calibre generates if I can't find one on the internet.

Really?? That's interesting because my family originates from Fairmont, WV and Rockville, MD. @ the genre prefix system. I completely understand! Oh, you are right about Troy McClure. Now that I hear the name I recognize it for sure. |

I am a sad puppy. I'm not the rudest person on MobileRead anymore. Seriously, how did that guy ever get sand there?
I think we can all agree that the OP is an ignoramus, a moron, and a troll. However, I'd like to remind people that if anyone has legitimate calibre questions, instead of frothing, spittle-blowing, vaguely incoherent rants, please bring them over to the calibre forum. It's full of nice people who are happy to help out (and me). There are few if any calibre problems, or problems that might be solved by the use of calibre, that someone there can't pop out an answer for. The calibre forum is right down the list a bit, suitably named. As for the OP ... when I found that it was "ebook library management" that he couldn't understand, I was reminded of the story that ends "...and send it back. You're not smart enough to own a computer." If someone doesn't know what an ebook library is, or why one might want to manage it, I have to question that person's ability to read ebooks at all. |

I have lived like this so long now that I have learned to not look at things I know are going to haunt me. And, I really don't feel bad about hijacking this thread since the OP is rude and obnoxious anyway. |

The thread, as someone pointed out, had somewhat evolved into one in which information on and help with calibre were being offered and discussed by MR folk. We didn't want to take away from that by closing off that development, and have have moved it to the calibre forum in line with that.
Cheers, Marc Moderator |
