Issues Starting Content Server: IOError "Port 8080 not free" (is actually free)
Hi there,
I am attempting to run Calibre's content server (version 1.38) on port 8080 default on a Mac OS X 10.9.3 machine. I am getting an error: IOError("Port 8080 not free on '0.0.0.0'",) At first I thought that another application was actually using that port. However, after checking with netstat -a and lsof -i, I have not seen any process using port 8080. There is no reason that port 8080 should not work. On the other hand, when I set Calibre to use port 8081, the content server works. As such, that would lend me to believe that port 8080 is actually in use. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this further? Thanks! Best Regards, Eric |

Frack. Never mind. I found another post from last year about ESET blocking the use of that port due to its web filter. Problem corrected.
Side Note: You'd think ESET, one of the most advanced AV companies with one of the most accurate engines in the world, could make their software a little less buggy. (I've had web proxy crashes with this software previously as well). |
