Calibre Export Backup

Part 1 is 26.3 M Byte
Most parts except the last are about 1G Byte
The last is less than 1G byte.

Part-0002.calibre-data is 12.4 GByte. Copying that to Linux Server HDD is not a problem (ext4). Copying it to a USB stick via LAN seems to get connection timeout at about 4.3 G Byte. Direct export to that USB stick also failed.

Because the USB stick is FAT, a file can't be more than 4G byte at the power of two, 4 GiB minus one byte, or 4 294 967 295 bytes, hence fails at 4.3 G.

Calibre 7.8 on Linux Mint 21.3 x86-64

Not sure why part2 is so much bigger unless it's the FTS database in one piece?

FAT32 is common for interchange betwen different OS.

Yes, it will be the FTS database, the infrastructure doesnt support splitting up single files into multiple pieces, as it was written before there was FTS and hence no individual files were large. Use exfat these days rather than fat and you will be fine.

I'll have to see does the mad box that the USB stick (128G) is for supports exFAT. It's plausible that it doesn't but that ext4 works!

Thanks

Note that this means that exports created by calibre from this version
on will not be importable by earlier versions. However, exports from
earlier versions should still be importable.
That's good to know!
