About ghosting and screen erasing.

Hello.

I noticed that when you start reading from the menu the first page displayed contains a ghosting image of the menu, you can see the selector pointer triangle at the right side if the document that you are reading have a clean right margin. This is normal, but when you turn the page, that second displayed page have ghosting from the previous page, but the ghosting from the menu are gone, leaving the right margin perfectly clean.

That is: a double screen erasing cleans the ghost image leaving a really clean screen.

Here comes my question, is there any hack which could make the PRS-500 to perform a double screen flash when you turn the page? I know it would decrease battery life, but I don't mind if it get ride of the ghosting once and for all.

It would not only drain the batter twice as fast but it would also make page turns twice as long.

What I have found is that the menu may ghost, but once I'm into a book I notice no ghosting when moving from text page to text page, so I think it would be unnecessary except in certain conditions.

But of course, as a hack, none of us would need to use it if we didn't wish to, so perhaps one of the fine programmers in this group will be willing to write such a hack for you.

Good luck on it!

Yes, it's normal, ghosting is more noticeable in the menu because there is no screen erasing when you move the pointer. I would not mind the double time, it's a short time anyway, and the battery life is so long that the half of it is still a very good battery life.
