Sony innovation store

Walking through one of the casinos in Atlantic City the other day, I noticed a Sony Innovation store. I went in because I wanted to see the 505, since I have the 500. To my suprise, they were still selling the 500 for $399. I asked 2 clerks working there about the Reader, and they really didn't know anything about it. I asked if they sold the newer version, and I was told the 500 was the latest version. I was going to explain it to them, but I figured it would have been pointless. It almost seems like Sony doesn't care about pushing sales for the Reader.

I think you should have told them of the 505. Let them know they've made a mistake.

I found about the same Sony Reader knowledge by the salespeople at Borders where I bought my 505, although they did have both models at the correct list price. If I knew nothing about the 505 before I went into the store, their info on the unit would not have convinced me to buy it - exactly the opposite.

However, you would expect knowledgeable sales folks at at Sony store.

$399? Was it ever that expensive?

The 500 was $399 when it first came out and eventually the price dropped to $350. And the 505 came out at $299.

Maybe it should be called Sony Ignoramus Store, might have been re-located customer service reps that you talked to!!!!

If this was in a casino maybe they were hoping a high roller would unknowingly buy the 500 for $399
