Contrast & Brightness Adjustability

I have a Sony PRS-650 and plan to buy a Kindle 3. I understand the 650 and K3 use the same pearl E-ink screen.

My question is this: On my 650, I can change the whiteness-grayness of the background screen, and also the heaviness-lightness of the font. I do this via adjusting brightness and contrast settings.

Can this be similarly done on the K3?

Hi you can change the contrast of .PDF files to make the text darker but this cannot be done for other types of files and there is nothing to change the background.
