Which Facebook APK to use? Mine crashes!

I just got my PocketEdge from Woot (running Ermine) and I also have a Samsung Galaxy S (running Bionix from Team Whiskey, so Android 2.2 too).

Since I am from Canada, I cannot use the Amazon AppStore.

So, I copied many of my APK from from cellphone to my PocketEdge and most work flawlessly!

Catch crashes, but I contacted them with an alogcat.

What I am mostly worried about is Facebook. My Facebook apk from my Galaxy S crashes.

There are a few issues over here:
- the app is looking for GPS and there is none;
- not enough permissions.

1a. Try to hook up a Bluetooth GPS

USB GPS is not going to work.

Or
1b. Just install Ermine 1.01, post #1; might be enough.

2. Is it rooted? I guess yes, asking just in case. If not go ahead.

3. Try to check directory:

/data/data/com.facebook.katana/files

4. Try to find the app not specific to Samsung, it might be tailored for them.

Facebook version 1.3.2 works on both Dingo and Ermine, for me.

All that gives is a log in screen and no information about the site at all - somewhat suspicious I would think. Malware anyone?

not in my experience. i've downloaded several apps already and had no problems.

If they are any good why are they hiding behind a login screen? Why not have a home page that says what they are?

It isn't malware, but it IS BOOTLEG. Keep in mind this site is hosting illegal apps (basically you can get stuff for free there which you'd have to pay for on the Android Market).

Depending on what country you live in you are STEALING.

This version also works on my Ermine Beta, Rooted. EE. The advantage over v1.3.2 is the ability to see groups and chat, though I have not used the chat.
